I Got A Little Carried Away ...

... and now my living-room window sill is pretty full! I've sown aubergine, cos lettuce, mixed hosta, penstemon, courgette, annual climbers , 3 types of tomato and some late broad beans and sweet pea seeds. I'm hoping for a mild spring so that next month I can start filling the greenhouse, otherwise the children's bedroom window sills will be requisitioned!

Sunshine, Flowers & Wool

The glorious sunshine of the weekend has encouraged more flowers to bloom including the first purple crocus and a bergenia. Also this pot is looking very pretty. Whilst being "mum the taxi service" this weekend I found time to drop into the wool shop! I couldn't resist the fancy yarns in the sale recently, so I had to go back and buy the mohair wool to add to the boa yarn!! I started knitting a hat for myself, matching gloves and scarf to follow. The blue ribbon yarn will be another scarf, I've previously knitted scarves for friends and family in different colours using this yarn, I've realised that most of my knitting is for other people so this one is for me. The black sparkly kidsilk is for my daughter's wrap to match her cocktail dress that we bought in the sales ready for the leavers' ball in June.

End of the week already!

I can't believe how quickly the weeks are passing. It's nearly the end of January already and spring is starting in my garden - I can now add crocus to my list of flowering plants.

The squirrels have started scampering along the back fence again looking for the hazelnuts they buried in our garden and providing entertainment as Ella stalks them - she doesn't stand a chance!

Craft wise, I have been busy making a pair of curtains for a friend and completing some friendship squares. Still have the children's Christmas decorations on the go! Maybe posting how behind I am with them will provide the proverbial kick!

What a lovely way to start the week...

... as I opened my son's bedroom curtains I saw a deer crossing the path behind our garden. What a lovely sight. Luckily they can't get into our back garden but OH has seen hoof prints on our allotment, which is in the next village, and they have been nibbling!

This morning I have set the potatoes to chit in the garage. Only going to grow Cara this year as we had blight rather bad last year. Also I have sown 4 varieties of chillis :- Hot Wax, Tepin, Caribbean Blend and Summer Heat.

We have primroses and cowslips out in the garden already, and green spears from lots of bulbs are pushing their way through the soil - a very welcome sight saying that spring is only around the corner.

A Very Wet Morning

As you can see it is a very wet morning, it was raining so hard at 4am that it woke me up, so I'm not even thinking about garden related issues today! Even the cats are refusing to go out.
