A Midsummer Night's Dream

A day trip to Blenheim Palace

We started our visit with a walk in the parkland.
Queen's Lake

Didn't expect to find a whomping willow! :)

Not a bad place for a picnic!
We sat in the sun by the Great Lake enjoying our picnic and watched the wildlife.

It was approximately a 4 mile walk around the lake.

Sweet cottage on the estate.
Love this gnarly bark!
I couldn't resist hiding from my husband in this hollow tree! :)
After our walk we went into the butterfly house.  It was super hot in there!

Little zebra finches live there too.

A much needed ice cream to help us around the maze.

We didn't get lost in the maze!
The little boy wanted a ride on the train, back to the palace. :)
We didn't have time to go inside the palace this time.

The main reason for our visit was to see A Midsummer Night's Dream performed at the Rose Theatre that evening.
The Rose Theatre is a pop-up theatre, designed like the Globe Theatre in London.

The play was excellently performed.

After a lovely evening, it was time to leave and head for home.
