A couple of Saturdays ago my Husband and I visited London for the day. We had arranged to meet my best friend L and her husband N in The City. We were up early and the sun rise was glorious as we drove into London.
We parked near Hampstead Heath and stopped to admire the view of London as we walked to the tube station.
We met L & N at the British Museum and spent most of the day there. These are just a few of the photos I took:-
The Nereid Monument and other exhibits from Xanthos
The Elgin Marbles
Panels from the Palace of Tiglath-pileser III, Nimrud.
Lely's Venus (Aphrodite) Roman copy of Greek original.
Colossal Statues from the Mausoleum of Halikarnassos, 350BC.
Statues from Ancient Egyptian times.
The Rosetta Stone.
Ancient Egyptian Artifacts.
Samurai Armour and Ivory Netsuke from Japan.
Babylonian Boundry Stones.
Ancient Briton and
Medieval Britain artifacts.
By the time we had finished my brain was frazzled from trying to absorb all the information!
Once it was dark we left the museum and went in search of the Christmas lights:-
Regent Street.
My Husband and L.
Carnaby Street.
We headed to Liberty's
to see the Christmas shop.
Time to give our feet a rest! We discovered this pretty restaurant in Leicester Square called Muriel's Kitchen.
After our meal it was time for L & N to catch their train. OH and I went for a walked through the fair at Leicester Square.
We watched the fountains change colour in Trafalgar Square.
We walked down Whitehall, past The Cenotaph
and onto Westminster.
Time to go home.

Lovely pics. The British Museum is a gem of a place isn't it. We were in London last weekend ... the lights were beautiful.
Hi VJ, looking at your photos, we seem to have visited some of the same places. Best wishes, Pj x
