London is usually a day trip for us, but back in August we decided to stay for a couple of nights as we had tickets for the theatre. We took the train into London,
then walked and walked and walked all weekend!
Victoria Embankment Gardens
Even though we have visited London often, there is still so much to discover.
Somerset House
Disused underground station
Walking along the Strand
We went inside RAF St Clement Danes, the church of the Royal Air Force and of the "Oranges and Lemons" nursery rhyme fame.
Further along we looked at the Temple Church, Mother Church of the Common Law.
Stone effigies of the Knights Templar
St Paul's Cathedral
We had a picnic lunch in London's newest roof garden, The Garden at 120.
Great views!
More walking in the afternoon, we saw Glorianna, the Queen's barge, at St. Katherine's Docks.
Walking along the Thames.
The Tower of London
Tower Bridge
The Shard
Monument
London Bridge
It was evening as we walked past the Houses of Parliament
on our way to Tate Britain,
where we admired paintings by Turner,
and Constable
and works by Hepworth
and Moore, as well as many other artists.
Time to walk back to our Airbnb apartment.
