Knitting and Stitching Show

Recently I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show, which was held at Alexandra Palace in London.  It was a beautiful, misty autumn morning, as I left home.
I took some crochet to keep me occupied on the train journey.
Alexandra Palace is set on a high hill with amazing views over London.

I walked through the Palm Court

and stopped to admire The Fiber Lands Gallery by DAMSS

Then I went shopping in The Great Hall and another room.
There was so much to see, but here are just a few photos of the stalls.
Tall Yarns
Inspiring crochet from another stall.
Spellbound Bead Co.
I didn't buy anything from here, but seeing this stall reminded me that many years ago I bought a kit from this company and have yet to make it!  At the same time I bought my daughter, who was then still at school, the beaded dragon kit and she finished that!
I was rather taken with hemline on this top, but didn't like the cowl neck.  Beautiful fabrics on this stall!
 Jamieson's of Shetland

This stall was full of Japanese fabrics and kits for bags and quilting.  I bought the kit for the lantern bag in the centre of the photo.
 Edward's Menagerie
There was a stall full of Latvian mittens and socks from a shop in Riga.  I purchased one of the kits.
After the shopping, I had plenty of time to admire the artistry on display.
I fell in love with this stitched Cheetah by Lesley Turpin-Delport.
This Pictorial Quilt by Claudia Pfeil was so detailed.  The back was beautifully stitched too!

Art Quilts by Susan Orchin

Elegant Edibles by Jennifer Day
In Salata by Sarah Ann Smith

There was also a display of Sophie Digard's work.
An exhibit that I'm sure caught most people's eye was Kate's Plaice, The Stitchmongers by Kate Jenkins.
This display was fabulous

and humourous!

The sun was still shining when I left the show, so I caught the Tube back into the city centre and walked around, before catching the train back home.
My husband picked me up from the station and was surprised to see that I only had one bag of shopping ... obviously I need to buy more in future! ;)  I came home with these purchases:-
The lantern bag kit with its beautiful Japanese fabrics.
The Latvian mittens kit I choose in a traditional pattern.
A few knitting and sewing implements.
Some charms for making stitch markers, progress keepers and zipper pulls.
I think I'm going to be rather busy!
