A Week in Norfolk

Each summer we usually spent a week in Norfolk with my parents.  This time we stopped off at Wimpole Estate to look around the house.
The rooms are beautiful, refurnished by the previous owners.

The chapel ceiling.
Below stairs, the servants quarters were very interesting too.

A storm was brewing, so we decided to leave looking at the gardens until another trip.
The next day, the weather had much improved and we headed to the coast.

Salthouse
This bull loved having his head rubbed.

We walked along the coastal path to Blakeney.

The following morning we visited the church where we were married.
On our 30th anniversary, last year, I had cast on a Together shawl and wanted to photograph it where we had married.
Morning break at Waxham Great Barn,

with a spot of knitting on my Marettimo jumper.
Then we spent some time on the beach.

I found a sea glass heart.
The windpump at Horsey has now been fully restored and we were able to climb unto the top and step out onto the gallery.

Unfortunately, the weather was very wet the next day!  After lunch in a quirky cafe

we met up with some friends at Blickling Hall.
It was so wet, that we only looked inside the house and didn't manage to walk around the estate as planned.

The next day we headed into Norwich.

There was a helter skelter in the cathedral for the summer.
Lunch at Biddies.

The next morning it was time to leave Norfolk.  On our way home we stopped at Snape Maltings for a wander around.

A light lunch,
then on to Aldeburgh for a bracing walk along the single beach

and a look at the impressive Scallop sculpture.

A warming cup of tea and time to travel on the last leg of our journey home.
