Autumn Half Term

I'm loving the fact that I get to spend another week at home - I'm such a homebody! I would much rather stay at home with my family than go out on the town at night. A cup of coffee some needlework and something decent on TV and I'm happy! lol !

In the garden my summer flowers are still blooming.

In the hedgerows the spindle trees are looking their best.

Fay has already been out witching at a party.

Maurice wasn't too sure about being a witch's cat!

Saturday was cold but sunny so OH and I visited a local National Trust house.

I also made some more fairy cakes. These are a lurid green inside and covered with a chocolate buttercream and icing shapes, cut out using my new cutters.

Gingerbread Biscuits

4oz/100g granulated sugar
8oz/200g SR flour
pinch of mixed spice
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 tsp ground ginger
4oz/100g butter or margarine
4 tbsp golden syrup
Preheat oven to 160'C.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Rub in butter or margarine until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Add golden syrup and mix to a dough.
Roll out on a floured surface and cut out shapes.
Bake on a greased tray for approx. 6 - 7 minutes, or until lightly golden, turning halfway through baking. Leave to cool slightly before moving onto a rack.
Can also be made in a processor.
OH returned home from a business trip to New York with these Kisses.
I have a recipe to turn some of these into cookies ... if any are left!!

I too would rather stay in with a good brew and a sewing project these days, going up town at night now just doesn't interest me at all.Fay and Maurice look great, just need the broomstick and they'd be away lol
I love your halloween cutters where did you get them from, the biscuits would be great for trick or treat!
Love from Kathy and the girls

Hi Kathyann The cutters in the tin were a recent purchase from Lakeland. They are possibly a little small for cookies. The ones I used for the gingerbread I have had for a long while.

What yummy Halloween treats. I too love half term holidays, and having the children home with me.
