Birthday Girl

This week Fay turned 20 - she says she is getting old! Goodness knows what that makes me!! :)
I managed to sneakily decorate her Cake whilst she was upstairs.
Time to make a Wish.
And blow out the Candles.
I sandwiched the layers together with Strawberry Jam and Vanilla Buttercream.
Her present was decorated with Paper Flowers that I made using my Big Shot machine.  I also made a label for the gift.  I'm loving these Tim Holtz dies.
" Happy Twentieth Birthday"

At the weekend I also baked this Bakewell Tart using this recipe.
I hadn't made a Bakewell Tart before, but I thought that the quantities in the recipe were rather large.
In fact they were big enough to make two Tarts!
So that should cover desserts this week!
With the left-over Egg Whites I whipped up some Meringues.
Just in case two Tarts aren't enough!! ;)

Gorgeous birthday cake - happy birthday fay! Your Bakewells look scrummy - I've never made one - are they quite easy?

Mmmm cake looks scrummy. Happy Birthday Fay! Hope you had a spiffy day.

My own 20 yr old daughter thinks I'm positively pre-historic.

Thank you for all the birthday messages for Fay.
Ruby - Pre-historic just about sums up how my two think of us. Just wait until they reach our age! :)
Victoria - Bakewell Tart is easy to make - the recipe I followed was rather large though and my family said it needed to taste more of almonds, so next time I would put in more extract, but there was already 14oz of almonds between the two fillings!
Best wishes, Pj x
